Lose weight fast : With Ayurveda

Why do we gain weight?

When the number of calories consumed exceeds the number of calories burnt, the excess calories get accumulated in the body in the form of fat causing obesity – ‘Medoroga’ in Ayurveda.

More than the food intake alone, an imbalance between food intake and proper digestion/metabolism causes obesity or overweight problem.

According to Ayurveda, both underweight and overweight highlights the imbalance of Doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Overweight or obesity in most people results predominantly due to kapha-type dosha.

Kapha is responsible for lubrication in the mind and body; controlling weight; and synthesis of seven tissues –muscles, bones, marrow, nutritive fluids, blood, fat and reproductive tissues.

Aggravation of Kapha leads to secretion of toxins in the body, which accumulate in Medovahi Srotas (fat channels), thus increasing production of fat tissue (Meda Dhatu). Production of these excess fat tissues results in increase in weight.

However, the other two Doshas can also cause obesity in few people. And, genetic factors, psychological disturbances or uncontrolled eating habits may also be responsible for weight gain.

Ayurvedic treatment for obesity targets the root cause and focuses on improving metabolism and cutting down on unhealthy foods.

What this program aims to achieve:

With an Ayurvedic weight loss program, the weight loss achieved is not achieved by suppressing the appetite but is more sustainable as it is targeted via change in metabolism. The therapies help in clearing the channels that are blocked with metabolic toxins and ensure a free flow of energy within the body so the Doshas are in a balanced state. The program is tailored to suit the Doshas (imbalances) that a person has and hence delivers the best results. However, the weight loss results may vary from person to person based on the body constitution (Kapha predominance), hormonal imbalances and genetic factors.

An important part of the slimming cure is a varied diet tailored to your Dosha type. The dishes support weight reduction.

Your holistic treatment at a wellness retreat will include yoga, meditation and relaxation exercises to achieve the best results.
